When Barricaid®?

Am I a candidate for Barricaid®?

The Barricaid® Prosthesis is recommended for patients at greatest risk for reherniation, disc collapse, the return of sciatica, and the potential for early onset of low back pain. Your physician can pre-operatively identify you as a potential candidate for the Barricaid® by measuring disc height as seen on MRI (≥5mm). During surgery, if your anular defect size is wider than 5mm, you are considered at greater risk for developing a reherniation, and hence are an optimal candidate for anular closure.
